We are now seeking a Valve Technician to join our Broussard, LA team.


Summary

 

Responsible for daily maintenance and testing of Kelly and Inside BOP Valves, testing of side entry pump in subs, and upkeep of parts and equipment associated. The individual will work closely with dispatcher, job coordinators, and third parties to properly provide quality valves for jobs.

 


Responsibilities

  • Must be able to keep track of inventory of valves, valve parts of incoming and outgoing valves

  • Be able to determine if parts are good or damaged

  • Must know the inner workings of Kelly and Ibop valves

  • Be able to communicate with vendors

  • Must be able to keep equipment in good working order and keep up with calibration on equipment

  • Must know test requirements for each third party monitoring company

  • Keep stock/inventory of o-rings, teflons, supplies, etc.

  • Must be able to operate breakout machine

  • Must  know torque specs for each connection

  • Ability to work in a labor intensive function and be on-call every third week.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in oilfield mechanical type operations.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred.
  • Experience working with safety valves is preferred.

Technical Skills/Behavioral Abilities

 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to use simple math skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Knowledge of all daily checkpoints and assigned equipment. Knowledge of various equipment descriptions and their identifying markings. Knowledge of color code used to identify inspection status. Knowledge of how equipment is organized to ensure proper storage and shipping. Knowledge of tubular connections, weights and grades.

Education

  • High School diploma is required.
