Position Summary:

 

Technical illustrators work in conjunction with design teams and technical writers to create a variety of technical graphics including animations and 3D/2D drawings. A technical illustrator takes information from text or data and creates illustrations that visually communicate this information concisely and accurately. This information could be sales and marketing material, research content, installation instructions or diagrams. Responsibilities of a technical illustrator revolve around the preservation of graphical material released by the company. This involves following regulatory standards, brand guidelines, and effectively communicating the message the employer intends to deliver.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create CAD schematics of Completion Tools in support of the Sales & Technical group.
  • Develop Completion Tool illustrations, graphics, posters, brochures and other marketing collateral in various print and digital formats.
  • Create 3D models from engineering drawings to produce sequences and animations.
  • Communicate with applicable SME’s throughout project development to include initial project concepts, specifications and final deliverables.
  • Maintain and update Completion Tools product catalogs, brochures and technical units.
  • Support Corporate Advertising by updating and maintaining web based Completion Tool information and specifications.
  • Maintain and update network project databases.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

This employee does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Education/Experience:

 

Bachelor's degree, Associate Degree in Drafting or Illustration and/or equivalent experience (5+ years).

 

Knowledge:

  • Ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of illustration experience
  • Oil & gas industry experience preferred
  • Animation experience preferred

Software:

Proficient in:

  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Inventor (or similar 3D CAD modeling i.e. SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER etc.)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Comfortable with:

  • Autodesk Showcase or 3ds Max
  • Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro

Skills:

  • Excellent visual, verbal and written communication skills
  • Works well in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to think critically, embrace challenging opportunities and create innovative solutions

Work Environment: Office environment - inside 75% or more of the time. May be exposed to dust, fumes, vapors or mists.

 

Physical Demands:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit; use hands and fingers, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to travel. Hard hat, safety glasses, and steel toed shoes required.
